FREQUENTLY asKed QUESTIONS
Q: Who can go to North Providence Youth Center?
A: Youth Center membership is available for 6th-12th grade students living in North Providence & surrounding communities. Parents and caregivers are also welcome to visit anytime during open hours, along with any students considering a membership.
Q: When is the Youth Center open?
A: The Youth Center is open Monday-Friday, 2:00-7:00 PM through the academic year (mid-September thru June) with the exception of school holidays, vacations, and closings. If the Youth Center has to close unexpectedly, such instances will be posted on our homepage/Facebook/Instagram.
Q: Does it cost money?
A: An annual Youth Center membership costs $25.00 for the academic year - only $2.50 per month! If there is more than one prospective member in a single household, the first member costs $25 while each member after is $10.*
*However, if any family considers the membership fee(s) a hardship, scholarships and payment plans are available.
Money should never be the reason to opt out of a Youth Center membership.
Q: When do I renew my membership?
A: Your membership will be up for renewal in approximately one year at the end of your original registration month (e.g. If you join 10/11/19, you need to renew by 10/31/20).
Q: Is transportation available?
A: After-school busing is available from Ricci Middle School to the Youth Center. If you are interested in this service, please email email@example.com or speak to the Ricci front desk staff.
For North Providence High School and Birchwood Middle School students, we recommend establishing walking/biking groups, or carpooling with other members.
Q: How do I know what event or activity is scheduled today?
A: Visit our Calendar page for a monthly list of dates, times, and descriptions (plus a downloadable calendar)! Follow us on Facebook and Instagram to check for any updates/changes.
Q: Is the scheduled program mandatory?
A: Never. Youth Center activities and events are always optional - come by anytime to do your own thing.
Q: If my friends & I are members, can we create our own programs & events, or book the upstairs space (just for us)?!
A: Absolutely! Give us at least a 1-2 weeks heads up, and we will be more than happy to help you plan. Email firstname.lastname@example.org or talk to Mandy Roach (Youth Center Director) in-person.
Q: Is food available at the Youth Center?
A: Yes, free supper is provided daily. Meals typically include a sandwich, wrap, or salad in addition to a healthy snack, juice, and milk. Other snacks, sweets & sodas are available for purchase (with favorite items stocked by request).
