FREQUENTLY asKed QUESTIONS
Q: Who can go to North Providence Youth Center?
A: Youth Center membership is available for 6th-12th grade youth living in North Providence & surrounding areas. Parents & caregivers are also welcome to stop by anytime during open hours.
Q: When is the Youth Center open?
A: NP Youth Center's regular hours are Monday-Friday, 2:00-7:00 PM throughout the academic year (with the exception of school and town holidays). The Youth Center may close due to inclement weather/school closings - such instances will be posted on the homepage and on our Facebook.
Q: Does it cost money?
A: While we occasionally host free events that are open to the public, an annual Youth Center membership costs $25.00 for the academic year - only $2.50 per month! If there is more than one youth living in your household, the first youth costs $25 while each household member/sibling joining after will be just $10.
However, if any family considers the membership fee(s) a hardship, scholarships and payment plans are available. Money should never be a reason to opt out of a Youth Center membership.
Q: When do I renew my membership?
A: Your membership will be up for renewal in approximately one year at the end of your original registration month (e.g. If you registered on 10/2/16, you will need to renew your membership by 10/31/17).
Q: Is transportation available?
A: We are finally able to get after-school busing from Ricci Middle School to the Youth Center! If you are interested, please email email@example.com or call (401) 719-1616 to help us secure this opportunity.
Since North Providence High School and Birchwood Middle School are less than a mile away, we recommend establishing walking/biking groups, or carpooling with other members (especially after sundown or days with limited visibility).
Q: How do I know what/when the programs and events are?
A: Visit our Calendar page for a monthly list of dates, times, & descriptions, along with a downloadable PDF calendar. Follow us on Facebook and Instagram to view our most recent updates.
Q: Is the scheduled program mandatory?
A: No way. Youth Center programs and events are always optional - come by anytime to do your own thing.
Q: If my friends and I are youth members, can we create our own programs & events, and/or book the upstairs or downstairs just for us?
A: Absolutely! Give us a heads up at least 1-2 weeks in advance, and we are more than happy to help you plan. Email firstname.lastname@example.org or talk to Mandy Roach (Program Director) in person.
Q: Is food available at the Youth Center?
A: Yes, our free supper program will begin again shortly. Meals typically include a sandwich, wrap, or salad, healthy snack/fruit juice, and carton of milk. Misc. snacks, sweets & sodas are also available for purchase.
